Cotopaxi (19,347ft/5.897m), 2 Day Climb
Day 1. Quito - Cotopaxi Refuge (15,748ft/4.800m)

We’ll leave from Quito (9,186ft/2.800m) in the morning and will drive south through the Avenue of the Volcanoes until getting to the Cotopaxi National Park entrance. From here will drive east to the Cotopaxi parking lot (14,764ft/4.500m), then we’ll hike up for another hour to the Jose Ribas Refuge (15,748ft/4.800m). In the afternoon we’ll head up to the glacier for ice practices and training. We’ll learn some basic techniques which will include how to handle climbing equipment (crampons, ice axe, rope, etc). We’ll go back to the Refuge for dinner and rest. (BL/D)
Day 2. Refuge - Cotopaxi Summit (19,347ft/5.897m) - Quito

Midnight will be our wake up time and the departure to the top (19,347ft/5.897 m) will be around 01h00, not before having a light breakfast and get our stuff ready for the ascent. The climb will take us about 6 to 8 hours. Once at the summit we’ll take our time to take pictures of the crater and surroundings, and then we’ll head down back to the refuge in 2 to 3 hours. Once at the refuge will pack our belongings, have something to eat, drink and go down to the parking lot where our transportation will be ready to take us back to Quito. (B/BL)

Day 1. Quito - Chimborazo Refuge (16,400ft /5.000m)

We will drive south from Quito (9,186ft/2.800m) towards the city of Ambato (8,858ft/2,700m) through the Avenue of the Volcanoes for about 5 hours, until getting to the Chimborazo`s reserve to Hermanos Carrel refuge (15,744ft/4,800m). From here we still have to walk up for about 1 hour to the Whimper’s Hut (16,400ft/5.000m) where we’ll have dinner and get some rest until 23h00. There will be an early light breakfast served just before getting ready with our gear and start heading up. (BL/D)
Day 2. Refuge - Chimborazo Top (20,702ft/6.310m) - Quito

At midnight we’ll start our climb to the top of Ecuador’s highest mountain, Chimborazo, which will take us about 8 to 10 hours. We’ll get to the top (20,702ft/6.310m) in the early hours, the perfect spot for resting and pictures of the beautiful Andean surroundings. Then, we’ll start our descending to the Refuge; it will take us 3 to 4 hours. Once in “Whymper Refuge” we’ll pack our gear and go down to “Hermanos Carrel Refuge”, where our transportation will be ready to take us back to Quito. (B/BL)

We’ll leave from Quito (9,186ft/2.800m) early in the morning and will drive north through the Avenue of the Volcanoes until getting to the town of Cayambe, that will take us around 2 hours, from there we still have to drive for another hour to the Ruales Oleas Berge refuge (15,091ft/4.600m). In the afternoon we’ll head up to the glacier for ice practices and training. We’ll learn some basic techniques which will include how to handle climbing equipment (crampons, ice axe, rope, etc). We’ll go back to the Refuge for dinner and rest. (BL/D)

Day 1. Quito - Antisana Camp (15,580ft/4.750m)

We’ll leave from Quito (9,186ft/2.800m) early in the morning and will drive east for about 3 hours through the Andean highlands until getting to Laguna Santa Lucia (14,118ft/4.300m). From this point, depending on road conditions, we’ll drive up the highest we can for another 30 more minutes to end of the road. Once there will put our backpacks on and continue an hour hike up to the base camp (15,580ft/4.750m), located right below the glacier. The rest of the day will be use for relaxing and hang out around until dinner time which it will be served by late afternoon. (BL/D)
Day 2. Camp - Antisana Summit (18,891ft/5.758 m)

We’ll continue driving up until getting to “La Virgen parking lot” (12,795ft/3.900m), once there we’ll start a 3-hour hike up to the “Nuevos Horizontes Refuge” (15,580ft/4.750m), we’ll have a relaxing time the rest of the afternoon. Day 2. Hut - Illiniza Sur Summit (17,267ft/5.263m) - Quito

Our climbing day starts at 2h00. We’ll have a light breakfast, pack our climbing equipment and leave the refuge an hour later. We’ll continue hiking up towards the saddle formed between both peaks and then to Illiniza Sur summit (17,267ft/5.263m) soon after. It will take us between 4 to 5 hours to get to the top. The return back to the refuge will be done in around 2 hours. Once here we’ll have something to eat, and drink, we´ll pack our stuff in order to go down to the La Virgen parking lot and drive back to Quito. (B/BL)

Day 2. Hut - Illiniza Norte Summit (16,818ft/5.126m) - Quito

Our climbing day starts at 5h00. We’ll have a light breakfast, pack our climbing equipment and leave the refuge an hour later. We’ll continue hiking up towards the saddle formed between both peaks and then to Illiniza Norte summit (16,818ft/ 5.126 m) soon after. The approaching to the top involves an easy 3 hour scrambling. Once at the summit we’ll enjoy and admire the beautiful surroundings. The return back to the refuge will be done in around 2 hours. Once here we’ll have something to eat, and drink, we´ll pack our stuff in order to go down to the La Virgen parking lot and drive back to Quito. (B/BL)

We leave from Quito to Otavalo town after lunch time; it will take us around 3 hours, we will have time to visit the Indian Market in the afternoon and then we will go resting early. Overnight in the Hotel.
Day 2.Otavalo - Imbabura Top (15,120ft/4.610m) - Quito

We’ll leave from Otavalo (8,528ft/2.600m) early in the morning (4h30) and will drive north to Ibarra and then turn east to La Esperanza village for about 2 hours through the Andean highlands until getting to the trailhead (10,496ft/3.200m). The hike goes through amazing Andean highland grass. As we gain elevation we’ll be able to see the surrounding snow capped mountains, such as Antisana, Cayambe, and even Cotopaxi far away to the south in clear days. Once nearing the summit, will be hiking by the ridge of the volcanic caldera which will take us to the top of the mountain (15,120ft/4.610m) soon after. It’ll take us about 7-8 hours round trip.
