Cotopaxi Trekking with Lodges, (3 Days)

Day 1. Quito - Chilcapamba Lodge (11,400ft/3.487m)

We start in the morning, from Quito and drive until our starting point (9,840ft/3.000m); we will enjoy a moderate uphill walk through Haciendas and past by typical Andean houses. The trek continues through the valley between Sicncholagua and Pasochoa Peaks, where we can admire some waterfalls and Andean Forest along the Pita River, and then we will continue on a road to Chilcapamba Lodge (11,400ft/3.487m). Overnight here at lodge (B/BL)

Day 2. Chilcabamba Lodge - Tambopaxi Lodge (12,139ft/3.700m)

We start early in the morning, and drive towards the east to Pita River Canyon for about 20 minutes, where we will start our hike for 5 to 6 hours, the first section is a nice Andean Forest and then on the border of Pita River, where we can appreciate the ancient lava flows from Cotopaxi last eruptions. We will get Tambopaxi Lodge by late afternoon. Overnight in this place. (B/BL)

Day 3. Tambopaxi - Rumiñahui Base ( 13,120ft/4.000m) - Quito

Our 4 to 5 hour hike starts in the morning, we will be walking in the base of both mountains Cotopaxi and Rumiñahui, we can observe the native flora of the highlands, and we will pass Limpiopungo Lake where we can see some of the representative Andean fauna, especially birds. Return to Quito by late afternoon. (B/BL)

Inca Trail “Camino del Inca”, (5 Days)

Day 1. Quito - Achupallas Village (10,991ft/3.350m)

We’ll leave from Quito (9,186ft/2.800m) early in the morning and will drive south for about 6 hours through the Avenue of the volcanoes until getting to Achupallas (10,991ft/3.350m), It is a small village set among cultivated slopes below the hill of Mapa Huiña. We’ll have lunch and will set up our camp there. The rest of the afternoon could be used for visiting the surroundings as well as the village itself. Overnight in the tents. (BL/D)

Day 2. Achupallas Camp -Tres Cruces Camp (12,467ft/3.800m)

After a consistent breakfast we’ll start hiking up on a stony foot trail between stone walls and continued upstream by a good path on the right side of Río Cuadrul. We will walk on an open grassy area, then we’ll crossed the stream and will climb west up to a major path on the west slope of the Río Cuadrul Valley. Our next camping site will be set at the base of Tres Cruces (12,467ft/3.800m). We’ll have dinner and some rest for the next day. Overnight in tents. (B/BL/D)

Day 3. Tres Cruces Camp - Paredones Inca Site (13,054ft/3.980m)

Our day will start early in the morning, after having breakfast, we’ll continue hiking up the valley across the upslope edge of an extensive open grassy area. Then we’ll get to the head of the valley and will reach a section of trail eroded to bedrock. Laguna Tres Cruces (13,940ft/4.250m) soon will come into view. We will be heading southwest onto the crest of the Cuchilla de Tres Cruces ridge (14,432ft/4.400m) which will provide us extensive views of Massive de Osogoche to the east, as well of the glaciated dome of Chimborazo to the north. We will traverse along the crest until getting to the saddle of Quilloloma, then we will descend down its southern slopes by an eroded trench; we will followed the trail until getting to Laguna Culebrillas. We will hike for an hour more until getting to Paredones Inca Site (13,054ft/3.980m) where we will set up our camp. Overnight in tents. (B/BL/D)

Day 4. Paredones Camp - Ingapirca Ruins (10,364ft/3.160m)

We will start early and we’ll hike south until getting to an old road formation which is up to 7 meters wide in some places. Then we will hike by a broad marshy valley, and kept going until getting to a dirt track nearby the village of San José. We will continue hiking south. After 7 hours hike we’ll be able to see our final destination and goal Ingapirca ruins (10,364ft/3.160m), overnight in the hostel. (B/BL)

Day 5. Ingapirca Ruins - Quito

Return by car all the way back to Quito. (B)

Condor Trek, (4 Days)

Day 1. Quito - Laguna del Volcan Camp (12,464ft/3.800m).

We leave from Quito in the morning and drive eastern up, towards El Tambo Village (11,152ft/3.400m), where packhorses will be waiting us. After loading our equipment on the horses, we´ll start moving on the trail. We will be hiking most of the time on very muddy areas, crossing stream and rivers, rubber boots are more than necessary. After 4 to 5 hours we will get our first campsite, which is located close to a nice lake, called Laguna del Volcan (12,464ft/3.800m). Overnight in tents. (BL/D)

Day 2. Laguna del Volcan Camp - Santa Lucia Camp (14,104ft/4300m)

After breakfast, we start hiking up still through muddy areas and small forests until we reach higher and drier paramo zones, that will take us some 3 hours, Once here we still have to hike for another 3 hours admiring the magnificent and massive Antisana glacier and Santa Lucia Lake, we will get our second camp located in a sheltered valley. Overnight in tents. (B/BL/D)

Day 3. Santa Lucia Camp - Sincholagua Base Camp (14,432ft/4.400m)

We will start early in the morning, we will be hiking through a very nice andean high Plato, we will have the best chances to watch the Condor, flying around, to admire the huge Antisana Massive, this hike takes us around 7 to 8 hours. Overnight in tents. (B/BL/D)

Day 4. Sincholagua Base Camp - Quito

We leave early in the morning and begin the steep hike up to the highest point of our trek (14,760ft/4500m), the pass at Sincholagua which leads into the Cotopaxi National Park. From then on we descend to the Pita River where our transportation will be waiting for us in order to drive back to Quito. (B/BL/D)
